Halfway There 2026: A Mid-Year Look at What MFT Has Accomplished
We're six months into 2026, and thanks to the generosity of CGOU's donors, it's been a season of real momentum for our partner on the ground, Mahavir Foundation Trust (MFT). At the end of June, CGOU transferred $100,000 to MFT to fund their programming. Here's what that helped to support at MFT month by month.
January - March: Building the Foundation
January saw the creation of a new Asha Deep learning center in Kalali, an Open Scholarship Distribution reaching roughly 100 students, and an emotional well-being program using art therapy to support 25 young teens. February put tools directly in students' hands, with 23 laptops distributed to students in professional courses and scholarships reaching three partner schools. March brought a milestone twenty-five years in the making: MFT's Silver Jubilee, celebrating a quarter-century of service as well as plans for a new tree plantation program at Chhani Upvan.
April - June: Stories and Sustained Growth
April gave us two remarkable stories: Dhruv Das, who went from helping his father at a vegetable cart to becoming a doctor, with his sister now following the same path; and Dinkal Gorkha, who overcame a mobility-altering accident and the loss of both parents to become a national kickboxing champion. May grew MFT's Upvan urban forest initiative and launched a new Open Scholarship Program, plus a clothing donation drive supported by BIBA. June closed the half with the Ashadeep Summer Activity Showcase, new intern training and mentorship for future program leaders, and the opening of another Ashadeep Centre in partnership with Cygnus World School.
Throughout every month, MFT's Samvedana initiative kept ration kits, sanitary supplies, and blankets flowing to families, widows, and elderly community members who needed them most.
Looking Ahead: Our Goal for the Rest of 2026
Six months in and MFT continues to make sure that every dollar turns into a classroom seat, a scholarship, a laptop, or a moment of dignity for a family in need. That's why we're chasing an ambitious goal to uplift more than 1,000 children and their families through MFT in 2026, strengthening all four of their core programs. Reaching this goal will take an estimated $125,000, funding both expanded access to education and skills that build financial independence and resilience for adults.
